Learn To Skate (LTS)

Cambridge-Isanti Learn to Skate (LTS) Program

Designed for First-Time Skaters Ages 3-10

Come join the fun and learn a skill that can be enjoyed for a lifetime! Whether your child dreams of playing hockey or just wants to feel confident on the ice, our Learn to Skate program is the perfect starting point.

Sessions will be run by Cambridge Isanti Hockey Association coaching staff in this fun and effective training program. Each session will include skills instruction from the coaches (with assistance by boys and girls high school and youth bantam/15U hockey teams) and open skating time for the kids to warm up and practice the skills they are learning. Some of the skills covered include: balance, proper falling and getting up unassisted, march across the ice, one foot glides, forward and backward swizzles, backward wiggles, forward stroking/stride, forward crossovers left and right, one foot snowplow stop. Skaters will be split into groups based on their skill level to work on the appropriate skills for their current ability and continue to progress through the more advanced skills.

Important Note for Parents and Caregivers

Our staff and volunteers are excited to work with your skater! They are fully prepared to provide instruction and on-ice assistance throughout the program. To maintain a low instructor to skater ratio and provide the best learning experience possible, only registered participants and instructors will be permitted on the ice during Learn to Skate sessions.
