Travel Mite/8U
CIHA Traveling Mite/8U hockey is for children ages 8 & under and consists of 3 levels of play. Level will be determined during evaluations.
Mite C - Intermediate Level Skaters
Mite A/B - Advanced Level Skaters
*8U A/B - All Girls
*8U is a cooperative with North Branch & St. Francis called Northern Tier Stars (NTS). All girls teams are a coop all the way through the high school level.
Ages
What aged players are appropriate for this program?
Youth ages 8 and under. (Born on or after June 1, 2017)
When
What time of the year does this program run?
Season begins with evaluations in early October and runs until mid March.
Where
Where are practices and games typically held?
Practices and home games are held at the Isanti Ice Rink for Co-Ed Teams and East Bethel/Isanti Rink for 8U Girls. Games may be played within District 10 locations.
Practices
When are practices and how often are they?
Teams practice 2-3 times per week, typically Saturday and/or Sunday mornings. There may be practice during the week inside or outside as ice is available.
Games
How many games will they play?
Teams will play a maximum of ten 60 minute games, plus jamboree games (2-3 jamborees during the season upon availability within District 10)
Jerseys
Are jerseys and hockey socks provided or are they purchased separately?
Jerseys and socks are provided and included in the registration fees. You will pick your top 3 preferred numbers and provide your players sizes on the registration form.
Mite/8U Hockey Costs
- Free Registration for new/first year of playing hockey (only pay USA Hockey fee)
- Half Price Registration for 2nd year of playing hockey ($300+ USA Hockey fee)
- $600 for 3rd+ year (+USA Hockey fee)
*When calculating your player’s years of experience, include years they played Termite/In-house hockey.
USA Hockey Registration & MN Hockey affiliate fees are additional (required)
Payment Options - Returning Mite/8U Only
CIHA offers two payment options:
- Pay in full at registration
- Three payments equally divided to be paid on date of registration, on Sept 1, and on Oct 1
Volunteer (DIBS) Requirements
Each registration requires 4 hours of volunteer time during the season.
Examples of opportunities for volunteer /DIBS hours:
- Coaching
- Recruitment events
- Parade Float Building/Decorating
- Walk/rollerblade with our Float in the Rodeo Days Parade
- Work a shift at the Kids Day booths/games (Jubilee Days and Isanti County Fair Days)
- Hang up/Distribute Learn to Skate and Try Hockey for Free Signs
- On Ice and Off Ice Learn to Skate (ages 18+)
- Locker Room Monitor (pre season/skates, tryouts, Goalie skills on Sundays, Northern Exposure,etc)
•Committee tasks (mite jamboree, S.K.A.T.E banquet, home tournaments)
•Cleaning Try Out Jerseys (before and after tryouts)
•Organization requests for CIHA equipment
•Photo Day Coordinator
•Fundraising Tasks
Max family hours: 12
Volunteer time buyout: $500 per registrant
